+# Weekend reading: A test of the Musk Starship prototype ended with an explosion on landing

+The testing of a prototype of SpaceX's Starship rocket ended with an explosion during landing in Boca Chica, Texas. According to Elon Musk, the pressure in the rocket's tank during landing was low, so the rocket landed at high speed.

+As Musk explained, despite the unfortunate end, they were given all the necessary information during the mission, so he described the test as successful. The goal of this prototype test was to reach a height of 12500 meters, with the rocket being powered for the first time by the newly developed SpaceX Raptor engines. As reported by Reuters, it is not yet known whether the rocket has reached the said height.

NASA has earmarked $135 million for its development, and has also financially supported the plans of Musk's rivals, Blue Origin, owned by Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, and Dynetics, owned by Leidos. The trio is working on contracts with NASA under the Artemis program, which envisions extensive human exploration of the Moon over the next decade. The goal of the Americans is to return man to the moon by 2024.
